I don't know exactly why the lamb became the symbol for Easter, or spring, or god but last weekend Julie and Gene decided to celebrate the season by cooking a lamb shank. Gene also made his "famous" lamb cake. It was delicious and we had a good time ringing in spring, Ingrid brought orange sorbet that she made.

I never met anyone named March.

March and July are the only 2 calender names (under 3 syllables) people don't seem to want to name their children. I couldn't stop thinking about that over the weekend as the icy wind rattled the windows for three days. But then today......crocuses peeked out from under the dead leaves, brave little things.

It's windy in Maine in March

I told Toni it was windy. Really windy! As you can see in this photo I took yesterday of Dow Road, we have had more snow and ice. She will be happy to know her house didn't sustain any damage when it blew over. I am hoping to get some friends to come over later today and try to tip it back up. I will let her know that her furniture may be a little screwed up and in the wrong rooms. Carole and I hope to have it all straightened out before Toni gets back from CA. next week. We'll try our best, I think all of her friends will volunteer to help.

This is from this mornings tub time. Maybe there comes a time in every one's life, due to circumstance or energy when you are in the tub and you think, oh heck that's enough and get out before you have washed every inch of yourself. I have had several of those days over the last year. Nothing that a good pedicure can't fix.

Carole loves pottery, I love her.

(maybe not a very globally compelling story, none the less a lot of meaning for me)

Ernest Hemingway once wrote a very very short story. here it is:

"For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

He said it was his best work. In the November 2008 issue of Wired magazine there was an article about taking on the assignment of the six word story. LOVED the article and the idea. I hope to feature a few of my own. Above is the first one I wrote.

Last Winter

This Winter

I thought I should start with last winter (see top photos) and then compare it to this winter (above). Broken legs and back trouble. Enough said. We made it through just fine.

This winter we spent our time saying remember that! I must say we are doing great. Laughing as always is top priority and moving (blessed movement) on. We walk on the beach every day and watch the snow fall (every other day)
